Solar Array Inspection

Thermal imagery is a valuable tool for detecting hot spots in solar panels. These hot spots are caused by various factors, such as dust accumulation on the surface, damaged or broken cells, improper cell interconnect, faulty bypass diodes, and more. For example, a defective cell will start using power instead of generating it and consumes energy generated by nearby cells, which makes it appear "hotter" than other cells in the image. These defective cells can be easily located with thermal imagery.

Aerial Insight, LLC's aerial inspections include visual and thermal imaging of solar arrays using remotely piloted aircraft and specialized cameras. The images are then analyzed for anomalies to detect possible energy output issues within the panel system. These damaged panels can then be replaced, ideally within the manufacturer's warranty, and increase the total output of the solar array.
